Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is intended to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail address, but to look as being sent from another, generally with the idea to fraud the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a specific record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all of the e-mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the email message will not be sent and it'll be discarded. In case you employ this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages that seem to have been sent from you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting
When you host your domains in a cloud web hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mails for them, you are able to activate SPF protection for them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a section of its own where you will be able to see which domains are currently protected. For those that aren't, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and manage various things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, as well as to create a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, and you can use it in the event that we manage the emails for your domains and you're not using another email provider. The new records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message using your email addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The SPF protection attribute is featured with all semi-dedicated plans, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you'll be able to use this particular service with ease for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very user-friendly interface, which means that you will not need to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mails. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain that you have picked. As an additional option, we also allow you to limit your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even better by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain name involved has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain should be taken care of here and not by another provider. Doing so you will get even better control and there won't be any chance for any person to counterfeit your e-mails for malicious activities.
