DomainKeys Identified Mail
What lies behind the acronym DKIM? How could this feature help your e-mail marketing strategies?
DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for checking the authenticity of an email using a digital signature. When DKIM is activated for a certain domain name, a public cryptographic key is published to the global DNS system and a private one is stored on the mail server. When a new email message is sent, a signature is generated using the private key and when the email is delivered, the signature is authenticated by the POP3/IMAP email server using the public key. Thus, the receiver can easily discern if the message is genuine or if the sender’s email address has been spoofed. A mismatch will occur if the content of the email message has been altered on its way as well, so DKIM can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or removed. This email authentication system will strengthen your email security, since you can verify the legitimacy of the important email messages that you receive and your colleagues can do likewise with the emails that you send them. Based on the particular mail service provider’s policies, a message that fails the examination may be erased or may enter the recipient’s inbox with a warning symbol.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Web Hosting
The DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality is pre-enabled for all domains that are hosted in a
cloud web hosting account on our cloud servers, so you won’t have to do anything yourself to activate it. The sole condition is that the given domain should be hosted in a web hosting account on our platform using our MX and NS records, so that the email messages will go through our mail servers. The private cryptographic key will be created on the server and the TXT resource record, which contains the public key, will be published to the Domain Name System automatically, so you will not need to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DKIM email validation system will allow you to send out trustworthy messages, so if you’re sending a newsletter or offers to clients, for instance, your email messages will always reach their target viewers, whereas unauthorized 3rd parties will not be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you opt for one of the
semi-dedicated plans that we’re offering, you will be able to use the DomainKeys Identified Mail protection service with any domain that you add to your new semi-dedicated account without any manual setup, as our advanced cloud hosting platform will set up all the mandatory records automatically, as long as the domain uses our name servers. The aforementioned is required for a TXT resource record to be created for the domain, as this is how the public key can become available in the global DNS system. The private key will also be added automatically to our email servers, so every time you send a new email, it will include our platform’s digital signature. The number of junk email messages continues to rise every year and very often phony addresses are used, but when you use our web hosting services, you and your clients or associates will not need to worry about that.
